King Digital searching for the next Candy Crush Saga

Bubble Witch Saga 2

The maker of addictive mobile game Candy Crush Saga has released its first major game since its poorly performing stock listed in March.

Anglo-Swedish game developer King Digital Entertainment is hoping to build app and Facebook fans with Bubble Witch Saga 2, an update of one of its earlier games.

Bubble Witch Saga was originally launched in 2011 and did well on Android and iOS platforms, though not as well as its big hit Candy Crush.
Bubble Witch Saga 2 has been developed for smartphones running Android or iOS, and can also be played on PCs through Facebook.
King Digital raised $499.5 million US in a New York IPO in March, but its stock dropped 10 per cent from the list price of $22.50 on the first day and now trades in the $16 per share range.

It needs another hit like Candy Crush to convince the market it isn’t a one-hit wonder. Candy Crush continues to account for most of the company’s revenue.
Last month, the company announced it plans a new version of Candy Crush Saga and will accelerate its creation of new games.
